Hello!
This post is a little earlier, but I won't be here over the weekend. I hope you enjoy Chapter 2!
Chapter 2: Down in the Cellars
The first stop on Shihtzua’s introduction tour was down in the cellar. “Here is where we
store all of the kingdom’s food. It is periodically shipped out to other storage units outside of the
castle to feed the other inhabitants of Woofenbark, and there is always enough food to last
everyone one whole winter. Isn’t it marvelous?” Even though Corgi had seen these stockpiles
many times before, he still marveled at the vastness of food kept there as he said this.
“So, this is how you get five meals a day,” Shihtzua acknowledged. Corgi then led Shihtzua
and Pom Pom through a corridor into a large room with lots of barrels along the walls.
“This is where all of our wines are brewed, including the one you had today.” Corgi said as
a ruffed-up looking dog rounded the corner. His fur seemed to be covered in all sorts of stains.
“A! Pom Pom le magnifique! It is my honoré to see you again!” Then his eyes darted over to
Shihtzua. “And who is this pretty mademoiselle? You are the flower in this garden, no?”
“This is Monsieur Poodle, our wine master and cellar keeper. He is one of the best vintners
on the planet,” Corgi proclaimed. “Corgi, mon ami, I am flattered. Come, come, garden flower,
would you like to try some of our specialties?” Shihtzua, a big fan of drinks, could not refuse,
and Monsieur Poodle led her down many paths, and she sipped some drink from almost all
the barrels. As the wine-tasting tour finished up, Monsieur Poodle asked which one Shihtzua
enjoyed the most. “That is a tough question,” she replied, “but I have to say the fizzy rose wine.
It was refreshing, fruity, and it tickled my snout!” “Good choice, mademoiselle. That is a favorite
of many, so there always is more!"
